OMB Business Case – Exhibit 300 (4 days) 2.4 CEU - OMB now requires preparation of a business case to demonstrate the strategic, financial and tactical value to the government of any proposed capital asset expenditures as part of Circular A-11.  Business cases are now required for purchases of land, structures, equipment, intellectual property (including software) and information technology (including IT service contracts) that will be used by the federal government for two years or more.  OMB’s Exhibit 300 process now requires agencies to explain precisely how their IT spending will support the agency missions.  Recently, OMB returned as inadequate more than 700 business cases to agencies in budget pass-back.  In order to comply with OMB mandates and achieve full funding for your IT projects, it is vital for your agency to stay on top of the latest changes and aware of best practices for building better IT business cases.  Thorough knowledge of the business case can assist Government personnel and support contactors, and prevent loss of funding.  Sample Slides

Introduction to Information Technology (3 Days) 1.8 CEU - Learn the fundamental concepts, terminology and laws that form the foundation of information systems, technology management and e-Government.  The course provides a discussion of the objectives of e-Government and the systems used to support it.  The course includes discussions on computer security.

Introduction to E-Government (3 Days) 1.8 CEU – The President’s Management Agenda calls for a significant increase in electronic governmental information availability.  The course examines how the Internet and related information technology might be used to more effectively accomplish the mission and functions of a government agency.  Examine basic principles, concepts, laws, terminology and technologies that are defining e-Commerce in both the private and public sector. Project Management in Information Technology (4 Days) 2.4 CEU - This course focuses on program and project management in an information technology (IT) and information systems (IS) context.  It provides the proven tools and techniques for successfully managing an IT project throughout its life cycle, from concept to closure, and to continually improve the project management process.  In this course participants learn to: plan IT projects using a proven step-by step process; estimate project costs, resources and time; examine the risk management process; use tools and techniques for control of IT projects; use project management software and use software tools to examine risk and alternatives. Implementing Clinger-Cohen (4 Days) 2.4 CEU - The course provides a new appreciation of the intent and purpose of the Clinger Cohen Act as it relates to the larger body of results-based legislation.  It allows for a better understanding of the intent and purpose of each component elements of the Clinger Cohen Act and how they relate to one another.  You will gain new insights and understanding of critical success factors and best management practices associated with implementing the Clinger Cohen Act.
